Diet Suggesions

Postby roadz on Fri Nov 13, 2009 1:38 am

I have been a student since September and am finding it hard to get in all of the necessary calories, as I commute to and from uni and am often out of the house for long periods of time...

I like to eat lots of smaller meals throughout the day and I'm finding this hard too...

So, can any one suggest...

A) Decent meals that I can eat whilst on the go

B) Calorie dense foods so I don't have to eat as often

Answers on a post card please and also bare in mind that I'm aiming to pack on some decent mass over the next few months.

Also, other's experiences on such situations would be appreciated...

Thank you please lol :D

Will take a bit of effort on your part. I think your best bet is to make up something in a decent sized tupperware container that you can take with you and eat from during the day.

Here's what I've been having recently, for example:

100g quinoa
1-2 chicken breasts
Oily fish (e.g. smoked mackerel)
Avocado
Cucumber
Tomato
Grated carrot
Pepper
Spinach
Mixture of oils (hemp, olive, avocado)

Easy to prepare as you can cook chicken to keep for 3-4 days in the fridge, then it's just a case of cooking the quinoa for 10-15 minutes in the morning or the night before.

Take some almonds with you. Hard boiled eggs are pretty convenient, too.

Start off with a 1200 cal breakfast that way your ahead at the begining of the day. Eat as much solid food as you can then down a protein shake with peanut butter and whole eggs in it.

Get a Monty brekkie into you - I think Craig's right.

brekkie shake could be

4 whole eggs
scoop whey
2 scoops oats
banana
little whole milk
all blended

* handy quickies are oats in a clip lock tub in honey and raisins for example.
* cook up a couple of chicken breasts and 100g of rice etc while making dinner . you will get two meals out of that.
* tins of mackerel fillet
* mass gainer shakes or 2 scoops whey/2 scoops oats shakes with you

Its just a case of learning to be organised, which takes time. With practice you will find that preparing for your new schedule will just be par for the course and just what you do - with a bit of effort and practice.

Tupperware is definately the way forward as this way you can graze on food during the day.
