Reporting for duty.

BTW Rilla, Ollie is a similar height to me, probably a bit taller, I'd hazard a guess at 5'10".

No sadly not - 5'10" and a bit - I'm just outside the dwarf empire :)

for some reason on deadlift its not always case. I'm not sure why though tbh..

Height surely plays at least some part... the longer your legs the further you have to move the bar so the greater amount of energy required to move it. Leverage, due to limb-to-torso ratio, is not such a big thing though (unlike in bench pressing).

Haven't done regular dead's for a while but was doing 170kg for 3x5 @ 75kg bodyweight.

If your knuckles drag along the floor though, you're going to have an advantage doing deadlifts. ;)

DTLV- chances are if you have longer legs, you also have longer arms though.

Yeah but its still greater distance... if you are 6'0" tall then the resting place at the top of the rep is still gonna be higher off the ground than someone who is 5'0" tall...unless you really have long arms!

Not much difference to be sure but still a difference...

The thing is, at our level, i.e. not top end professionals touching on record breaking achievements, we're all going to be limited by a genetic factor. Sure leverage and work units required (Joules of energy etc...) for each lift will differ, but not to an extent that should make THAT Much of a difference. On average juice aside most people have the same issues to overcome, and that's plain ol' technique, strength and genetic limitations, not anthropometry.

Yeah i agree, is a factor but not much of a significant one. Was only throwing it in because i find that kind of stuff interesting. :ugeek:

My limiting factor in deads is quite simply grip strength, or lack of. On my max reps my back is never where failure occurs, its always hands just peeling off the bar. I know I could get more with a mixed grip but i just don't like using it... can feel it pull differently on each arm and just instinctively don't trust movements that feel unbalanced like that.

Yeah it's funny, I'm not a huge fan of mixed grip either. When I do over 200kg deads I use straps with overhand grip. I know I should practice 3without straps, but I'd rather concentrate on form.

Sadly with a deadlift of 135(x5) and a weight of 80kg I'm very far off this.

I'll be happy with a 2xbw to be honest, with long legs and a long torso, even my long(ish) arms don't help me.
1/2 Iron Man training at present...

BSD54 for a better 5% off your first order than the others offer.

Aye, but then i deadlift twice a week so...
Still, only 21 - 300kg @ 75kg is my long term goal aka 4 x bw. (79kg atm)
