Cutting stategy

Postby Marks1972 on Mon Apr 07, 2008 12:28 pm

MP Style post im afraid, but id rather ask you lot than try and wing it or follow some weird ass thing on t-nation.

To complete my 'get pretty for holiday' plan im intend to carry on eating big/training big till the end of April then for the last 6 weeks i want to take a chunk off the BF off.

Currently, things are like this on a workout day.

Average days food;
7am - Whey/Creatine mono with milk
8am - Organic Museli and a banana
10.30am - Wrap or Sandwich with some sort of protein, deli turkey, dirty tuna etc
12.30pm - Meal Replacement or Protein flapjack and handful of nuts
3.30pm - same as 10.30 but an apple or orange.
5.30pm - Light meal like eggs on toast, beans on toast.
8.30pm - PWO shake Whey/WMS/Creatine/Greens
10.30pm - Bedtime shake Whey+milk (need to replace this with MPC)
Non workout days dinner is a little later and more substantial and with a decent amount of veg.

Training wise..days move slightly but generally its;
Monday - Cardio/Abs at fitness gym
Tuesday - Legs at Next Gen
Wednesday - Rest
Thurday - Triceps/Biceps at Next Gen
Friday - Cardio/Abs at fitness gym
Saturday - Back/Traps at next gen
Sunday - Chest/Delts at next gen

Supplements (not including shakes)
On waking;
3 x Omega 369 gels
3 x Desicated Liver
1 x Multivit
1 x Sida Cordaforlia
1 x Green tea extract
1 x Trib pro
3 x Cissus

Lunch time;
3 x Omega 369
1 x trib

Pre workout
3 x BCAA+
1 x trib
3 x cissus
MP Pulse + alcar + taurine

Post workout
3 x BCAA+

Bedtime
5 x ZMA
3 x Omega 369

Doing this im gaining mass and strength but also im gaining weight and bodyfat (up to 19 stone and visibly fatter), i do eat the odd treat though which doesnt help.

So aside from the obvious things like not eating sweet treats, what should i change for the last 6 weeks to take off some fat. Was thinking carb cut off at very least and maybe going to 3 days full body and 3 days cardio.

Thoughts?

bananas are too sugary; not good for losing excess body fat

replace tuna with sardines/mackerel/wild salmon - too much heavy metals

take more fish oil

don't eat bread (wrap, sandwich, toast). Wrap in a large green leafy veg. Or have quinoa for a few good carbs

too much milk.

good to eat often though

for all water intake during the day have the Greens with it. So sip Greens in between meals before 6pm.

also, I think you are taking too many shakes. I actually think too many on ESN do. Really you only want to take a shake PWO (some PreWO stuff is ok). For you there's no real reason to imo. For someone that finds it hard to add size & get enough protein in their body then an extra shake or two throughout the day is ok.
Just try to get the vast majority of nutrition from real good food.

More fish oil? blimey i thought 9 x 369 a day was a lot already!

So bread and milk out when i start and ill bring my greens to work to drink during the day.

Cheers H

I know other people here disagree with my high Fish Oil intake but I believe it works (did for me & the wife... seems to for a few of my clients). I take 30-40g of Fish Oil per day. Every time I eat solid food I have some. Easiest way is liquid. So you could take a dessert spoonful with breakfast (solid breakfast), and same with dinner. Then have 4 tabs with lunch say. That'll be 34g.

Hmm what about pre bed.. i have to admit i dont like having a shake at bedtime as i dont want it messing with ZMA so find the timing a pain.. but do i really want to be going to bed on an empty stomach?

Howabout some cottage cheese, nuts and veg??

Im going to say you shouldn't eat so often! 8 feedings is just unnecessary and your body will always be in an anabolic state (which includes depositing fat) I say eat 5-6 times aday with 4 hours between meals. I know some will say more is better, but these folks probably handle insulin much better than the likes of you and myself. constantly high insulin will never allow for fat loss. I will probably get a cyber slap for this too, but you're eating too many carbs when you don't need them. I suggest restrict your carbs to when you will 'handle' them well, mornnig and pwo.

Some compromises with he carbs might be swapping bread for wholmeal pitta bread. less carbs and slower acting than 2 slice of bread.

Id swap the banana for a couple of little satsumas or a clementine.

scrap the bread/toast altogether on the pre-workout meal and just have the eggs with seasoning like cayenne pepper.

have water instead of milk pre-bed...and if your dirty like me add some double cream ;)
