Carb Re-load

Postby Benny on Wed Mar 10, 2010 11:35 am

Hi guys,

I've been cutting for quite sometime now and am seeing so very good progress over the last week. I've had a few cheat/binge days usually once a week. Sometimes I'll put 100grams of couscous in with dinner as a small carb re-load.

My question is how many grams of carbs is sufficient? I don't want to put too much in.

On around 2000calories a day the moment. I was thinking 200grams of couscous with lunch and then 100grams of brown pasta with dinner. This should give around 250grams of carbs approximatley. Though I'm not sure if banging more carbs in shortly before bed is a good idea?

Too much? too little? or spot on?

Thanks in advance,

BennyC

Wouldn't go with pre bed carbs as you'll simply put on body fat.

No hard and fast rules on the numbers to be honest and I would worry too much on being too precise as long as the source is fairly clean. Maybe go with the minimum amount, see how you feel and adjust accordingly.

If you have dieted hard and are carb depleted then a cheat day won't do any harm
Personally I have a shit load of chocolate after a pasta or mash pot dinner on sat night and wake up looking better for it

£late night carbs won't put fat on you if your body is depleted from diet and ready to suck it up

Honey nut cornflakes are good too :D fuck brown pasta on a cheat meal/refeed.

There's still the high insulin response and high insulin pre bed isn't ideal regardless of depletion.

Regardless, if your depleted, you dont need to worry about the carbs going to fat even if your eating them late at night....first thing in the morning or whenever.... on a cheat day/refeed once every 7 days or whatever the schedule is.

Personally ive been eating chocolate on a saturday night and puting my feet up knowing its cool and waking up saturday morning looking better for it. Last sat it was a wispa and milky way magic stars

Id say just pick 1 day per week...ie a saturday or a sunday if you go for dinner with the family etc and be "normal" and eat what you want that day within reason. Dont worry about it too much and eat what you feel like

to me that means maybe a roll or two from the bakers, a bowl of cereal and a meal out in a restraunt or pub..normal things like lasagna or something with mash. Bit of chocolate in there for sure too. I also train at weekends so have an iso drink during and plenty dextrose post.

You will fill back up and probably look beter for it presuming you aint into overly salty foods and end up holding a bucket of water.
