Canuck PT - intro

Postby Canuck on Mon Feb 18, 2008 10:19 pm

Sup everyone,

Just thought I'd intro myself since I've been hanging around the boards.

Obviously I am the same Canuck (Canadian UK guy) from MP forums.

I'm always looking for Physiotherapy problems to solve, so keep me posted on any problems :D
(Qualifying soon), previously been doing personal fitness instructing, and am a practitioner in muscular balance and function...

Hmm what else? Involved with some olympic trainers in Can (trained with Canadian Junior Olympic Champ in BC), so got some background in that, and some power lifting work as well as bodybuilding and fitness which is where I'm at.

Hope that I can be useful on this forum.

:ugeek:

Alright eh,

Hmm... interested in integrative practice and health promotion. Considering the aging population, poor long term quality of life.

To put into perspective:

Why is it that the US which spends more $$$ towards Medicare than any other country in the world, has the highest rates of Diabetes, Ca, Obesity, Cardiac Disease in the world?

On the other hand,

why is it that Cuba which spends next to zilch (virtual lack of gov $ into medicare) into a health care system, yet have some of the lowest rates of Diabetes, Ca, Obesity, Cardiac Disease in the world?

Cuba invests in prevention btw.

On top of that Alzheimer's is predicted to rise from 5mil to over 20mil in the coming 20 odd years.

So to answer your q: I don't know yet, private preferred as I am already quite involved in Personal fitness, and working with sports peeps. Something that is very severely limited within gov systems.

Canuck - I think you've hit the nail on the head in your inference about prevention and health promotion being the key to a healthy population rather than bucks spent on cleaning up the mess. I think the problem in many extremely capitalist developed world countries is the leaning towards convenience, immediate gratification and lack future planning... and that goes for all areas of society not just health.

Anyway, although you've been here for a while already, welcome to the forum :)
