Calf exercises

Postby Karlos on Sun Mar 23, 2008 12:09 am

Any ideas for calf exercises which will build power and speed. I can't do machine raises due to the strain on my dodgy knee, so i havn't trained calves directly in months. I was thinking some kinda plyometric jumps with a BB, would that work well?

Some form of oly lifting which involves hyperextension of the foot.

Sledge or Tyre dragging.

A rugby scrum machine.

Skipping.

hmm some good ideas there. I've got uphill running in there for hiit. Im looking for a more isolatory calf exercise than oly lifts, and i havn't exactly got access to rugby scrum machines alex!

Wouldn't jump squats do the job then? starting from a quarter squat.

Never noticed them on my calf's personally but I did go a lot deeper.

Maybe if you purposely tried to lift heels before the jump then they may work?

Di you have a Leg Press Machine you can use the edge of?
