I'm only giving my opinion if you swear blind that you'll do more than ride around Center Parcs on it.

I went to centreparcs once and got into a fight with a tofu eating fucknuggert who ran over my daughter with his bike. We left the following day. I think he wished he'd never gone....

Very different bikes. I'd keep the Whyte if you're leisure riding.

I'm lining up a Trek for myself very soon.

the heathen i am, i will put some flats on it

strangely enough although crankbeaters are supposed to be easier on the ol' knees, i am not finding that, and i am having confidence issues everytime i actually clip in

so if it all goes to plan- will prob get some ti spindles or something equally as gay

still undecided
called into a shop today to see if they had one in the flesh
unfortunately not

the one i can get is a 2010, not a 2011 frame, which has shock dampening system bollox on the rear triangle as like all their road bikes. still got same kit barring the back end change

guy showed me the 2012 version in a catalogue- all world cup xx sram stuff, and a dt swiss wheelset- it has gone up £300 sheets, so now coming in at £4999!!

the 899 or 2012 is coming in at 8.4k wtf, ffs

on a side note- i was looking at some Easton Haven Carbon wheels- truly truly awesome, i know if i win the lotto, i will have some fairly pimped out bikes

much to spit's annoyance they will be shiny, and all gleaming and in showroom condition, i suspect i am his true nemesis when it comes to 2 wheels- one of those overweight, overpaid city type nobheads who buys a ridiculously overspecced bike

Why not build your own...?

I expect to see you doing one lap of the 'Black Run' (ha!) at Afan on your £4k Intense Slopestyle with your RaceFace knee and shin guards, before retiring to the cafe to eat Welsh rarebit, read MBR and discuss how rad you just got

(Bear in mind that I'm a city-type nobhead too these days, I'm just not overpaid...)

build one
would love to, got zero tools at this house

being in the uk is cost prohibitive- (but saying that i saw an extralite stem go for £60 on ebay yesterday)
i like to follow that mad scottish guy (greygoose) on bike radar, he lives in hong kong and by the sounds of it, earns a wedge and doesnt go out all that much?

some of his builds are just crazy- real top end stuff, right down to anodised ti bolts - all that japanese yumeya stuff also. he has just built up a santa cruz nomad- his finishing kit on that is unreal.

so for me, it has to be off the peg at the moment

well well well i bought off a highlander

a boutique unheard of make- but a true weight weenie, a pretty little thing, and in fairness a bit of a better fit for me, the whyte was always a bit long in the cockpit- with 600mm or 24inches top tube

bike weight is 8.9kg
carbon frame
magura durin forks
magura marta sl magnesium disc brakes
dt swiss wheelset- not carbon- but heh cant have it all
but xx everything else :-)

whoop whoop ten speed/double comes to town
easton finishing kit - all ec/ea90

boom!

Not bad, not bad.

Back in the day when I was racing I ran one of the first Spesh M2 Frames into the UK and had that baby down to sub 20lbs which isn't bad going from maybe 18 years ago.

Neh bad at all if 18yrs ago!
i think i will always hanker after a titanium frame, but no real flare to them, and not really into long travel at the front.
the whyte ti is prob one of the better looking ones.

sticking with this one for a while, until it gets dirty

Sickening. On a more utiliarian note I've just fitted some XT brakes to mine with 203mm discs, and they are CRISP.

Just booked me a weekend's uplifting in the West Country over the Bank Holiday weekend, a DH race for the beginning of Sept, and best of all a week in Norway riding in Kristiansand and Hafjell Bike Park.

Quite excited
