Best place to buy Chuck Taylors?

Postby Spit on Tue Feb 17, 2009 11:40 am

I was gently reprimanded in the gym last night for squatting in bare feet; a bit annoying but the guy was cool about it and only doing his job, so I won't argue. Anyway, I guess it's time to buy some Chucks- I'll go and try some on in town this weekend if possible but I doubt that's the cheapest place to buy from, can anyone recommend an supplier on the interweb?

TK Maxx quite often have them fella! I refuse to pay full price for them now as they're owned by nike, but at around £14 a pair, I'll happily pay.

other than that, you can usually get some chuck wannabes in H&M or topman... about £10 a pair!

Otherwise Ebay is your friend if you know your size!

Ah, I didn't think to consult the board emo! :P

Nice one Rich, I'll go and have a dig. Moving to a flat on Broad St tomorrow so all those places will soon be within easy reach.

I get mine form sports and soccer in my local town. Well worth having a look if you have got one near you.

They are very good imo. I go with chucks over oly shoes due to the sole being flat, which means better posterior chain activation in squats. The fabric is not stretchy at all either, which means feet won't roll outwards.

I have very flat feet (two sizes bigger when flat on the floor than when no pressure is applied!) so wear orthotics that improve things a lot, they are a must for running etc; I'm curious as to whether these will fit inside Chucks (they're basically just insoles) or whether I'll need them anyway, I can't work out whether I'm better off deadlifting with them in or not. We shall see...

Depends on how you squat really. If you squat with a wide stance then the Chucks are a good idea.
If you tend to squat alot more narrow then a pair of oly shoes would be better suited.

Tell your gym if they dont like it they can give you a refund for the month, cancel your membership and suck your ass. Either that or you will keep on squatting with your shoes off.

They will just go down the road of health and safety to worm out of a refund.

Fook not wearing shoes in my gym, far too small and far too many plates around that could drop on your foot.

Spit if you've got flat feet bet climbing must huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurt!!!

I'd not bother with the insoles for better balance, but I'm sure all teh experienced guys will give better advice.
