Bargain Chicken

Postby Alex on Fri Jun 12, 2009 10:20 am

My excellent butcher has started doing split peppered chicken breasts which cook superbly on the BBQ and are very, very tasty. Best part is the price with 1kg working out to just under £7!

I'm going to be cooking on the BBQ and eating these as much as possible (unless is chucking it down) and having with some rice mixed with peas, spinach and avocado oil.

Good price from welshmeat but I can't do frozen chicken as I find it never cooks up as well as fresh. Maybe I'm just a snob.

Well there is that - but you are right. I find it has a tendency to be harder in the middle and when you cut it its never the same as fresh.

That does look very nice - what exactly is on that chicken? Did it come like that from the butchers and would all butchers do stuff like this?

It's some form of mixed pepper seasoning which you can no doubt buy in the supermarket but my butcher does them himself so I guess others would as well.

I think I've seen it in Tesco on the fresh meat counter where they do various seasonings for meat.

On the subject of bargains, i guarantee no one will beat this...

7 x 100g of smoked salmon slices
7 x 400g of salmon fillets (2 fillets n each pack)

Guess how much? a tenner...would be a bargain, right? Well i got the lot for 1.40  Okay it's yesterdays date, but it can be frozen.

Yesterday i ate 300g of smoked salmon and this morning i had 200g salmon fillet...is it wrong that my poops smell like salmon? :?
