OK, I am totally off my trolley. Got in the open water for the first time this year!! Coniston is one of the coldest lakes in the country because it is so deep.... today it was 8 degrees C

Spent 30 minutes in which is going some... had to get out then because I could feel hypothermia starting with the hands clawing etc.

Absolutely loved it though. This makes me feel so alive, like none of my problems exist, that nothing can get to me.

Took me 20 minutes to stop shaking enough to get a drink (I kept spilling it all out of the cup! ) and Andy had to help me get dressed because my hands didn't work. I'm only just starting to get warm now 1.5 hours later (got about 10 layers on). But bring it on....OPEN WATER SWIMMING RULES!!!

Rab - hehehe... I certainly am off my head. I like to think it's an endearing quality! My friend (in one of the pics) has done the Loch Lomond swim (21 miles), plus the 2 Way Windermere (21 miles) and the Channel, so that is the level of lunacy I am aiming for. Although having said that, she texted me yesterday and called me a mad wench, even she didn't stay in as long as I did yesterday!

I feel ill now having seen those pics!! You're bonkers!
