You know I've always been an emotional girly man :P

Hip flexors are pretty decent, and I don't feel I suffer from too much inflexibility there, however, as you said keeping working on it is crucial, and Karlos' idea is great. I do feel a bit less flexible than I have been. I really need to put the effort in to do my stretches!

Definitely hormonal *passes kleenax balsalm and chocolate bar* We can go watch Bridget Jones later and you can sing into your hairbrush.

Random thought. I had a biomech assessment and found out that contrary to my belief I had tight hamstrings I actually have really tight calf muscles. Been stretching them daily and noticed improvement in squat depth and ankle odema is not so bad. Maybe get an osteo to check you out.

LOL! :D

Thanks of the tip. I can even whilst "cold" half put my hands flat on the floor with my legs dead straight - is that good or bad?

Apples and oranges....how close are your hands to your legs. If you're in a press up positiion it isn't a good thing at all.

Tight calves are far more a common limitation than tight hamstrings yet most people don't think about calf tightness at all.

I have exactly the same issue, and without regular stretching my calves tighten right up despite hamstring flexibility that's not too bad.

Can you only tell you have tight calves by seeing a physio/chiro/osteo?

I don't know if this is fool proof way but try sitting straight legged on the floor with legs together and then leaning as far forward as possible stretching the hams and calves... if the most discomfort is behind the knee then it's hams that are tightest, if the most painful bit is calves then that's what you need to work on.

Good post as usual by Det!

To test flexibility
If gentle pressure is applied to the foot, and angle of 90 degrees should be possible without needing to force it.
The Soleus muscle is tested in the same way but with the knee bent.
