Clean and Jerk day today :D

1x(1PC+5PJx40)

2x(1PC+2PJx50)

2x(1PC+1MC+1PJx55)
2x(1PC+1MC+1PJx60)
2x(1PC+1MC+1PJx65)
2x(1PC+1MC+1PJx70)

1x C&J @ 75, 77.5, 80, 82.5 (PB), 85 (F on jerk)

1x C @ 87.5, 90 (PB), 92.5 (F - Caught it of balance so dumped it)

PB's on clean and jerk and squat cleans :D I put this improvement down to better anterior chain strength. I'm much better balanced now instead of posterior dominated.

A good stretch and 15 minutes of SS cardio on the bike to finish.

That sounds pretty hard actually. At least for the motorically challenged among us. ;)

So, the main difference between this and the Hang Power Clean is that it is probably slightly slower and involves less leg drive/work and more arm/shoulder work... right?

tbh I can't see it is that much different though to a Hang Power Clean. I know I'm kind of contradicting myself here after my thoughts on the difference, but seems a little odd to me. Perhaps it'll also involve lower weight??

Well done on the C&J PB mate. What do you attribute your increase in anterior chain strength to?

Cheers Richard. I put the anterior strength increase down to hitting the core as hard as possible. That and lots of lunges and split squats.

Anyway since my last WO I was away being a good socialist. Managed a few band sessions to keep the cobwebs away. Also allowed my knee/calf to rest. Not sure its fully healed yet :( Still got back to it this morning

A1: Power snatch (Reps on the minute) - 40, 42.5, 45, 47.5, 50, 52.5, 55, 57.5, 60, 62.5, 60, 57.5, 55, 52.5, 50, 52.5, 55, 57.5, 60

B1: Power clean > Power Jerk (Reps on the minute) - 60, 62.5, 65, 67.5, 70, 75, 80, 85(f on jerk), 80, 75, 70, 75, 80

C1: Clean Pull (Reps on the minute) - 100x7

D1: modified renegade row (1press up + 1 pull in) - 60 reps in 10 minutes

Took just under the hour. Renegades were hard after the fairly rapido Oly session.

Today's work was;

A1: Box squats - 3x100, 3x110, 2x120
A2: Bench press - 3x12x60

B1: Box squats - 3x1x130
B2: Standing gayble row with rotation - 3x15xL8 each way

C1: alt one arm DB grab snatch - 24, 20, 20 x 20kg
C2: Calf raises - 3x20xBW+40

45 minutes done!

Comments - First ever go at box squats. Not sure I like them but will try again another day. First time in more than a year on BB bench and can safely say never again. Something just does not feel right to me when I do these. So fuck that for a hide the sausage with KP.

Grab snatches were awesome. Not sure how I managed 24 on the first set.

Sit the dumbell on the floor between your legs, so that the bar is parellell with your shoulders, and stand up straight.
Squat down, grab the dumbell with one hand.
Snatch it as explosively as possible.
Return to floor
Stand up
Repeat until fecked.

I prefer to alternate but you can do them all one way as a set then do the other way as another set.

I shudder when I see/read people doing jump squats with heavy weights. It's asking for a back/neck injury. Think of the compression of the spinal column too!

Jumping is the wrong word. Finishing with triple extension would be more accurate

Oh I see: the knees get a hard-ass locking out, with the hips thrust forward like there's some hotty bending over showing you her hamstring tie-ins, and then you go onto your tip-toes to really get that authentic triple extension thrust nailed.

:P
